Abstract
Objectives: This study aims to analyze the organizational structure and service types at UPTD Labkesda, as well as to examine the mechanisms for managing solid medical waste. Given the challenges in medical waste management in Indonesia, this study seeks to assess the efficiency of waste handling at UPTD Labkesda in relation to existing regulations, particularly Permen LHK P.56 of 2015.
Methods: A descriptive research method was employed to provide an in-depth analysis of medical waste management at UPTD Labkesda. The study focused on medical waste managers, examining waste handling procedures such as sorting, collection, transport, and temporary storage. The findings were then evaluated based on relevant regulatory standards.
Results: The organizational structure of UPTD Labkesda consists of a head of the unit, a head of the administrative subdivision, and a person responsible for quality assurance. The facility provides three main types of services: clinical laboratories, public health laboratories, and medical device calibration laboratories. However, the waste management mechanism at UPTD Labkesda faces several challenges, particularly in the stages of waste sorting, collection, transport, and temporary storage.
Conclusions: While UPTD Labkesda provides essential health services, its solid medical waste management system still encounters inefficiencies in sorting, collection, transport, and temporary storage. Addressing these challenges requires improved waste management practices in compliance with Permen LHK P.56 of 2015, as well as enhanced infrastructure and operational protocols to ensure effective and safe medical waste disposal.
