Abstract
Objectives: The government's efforts to provide health insurance by implementing the National Health Insurance have not reduced the enthusiasm of the Indonesian people to seek treatment abroad. This costs the country around 165 trillion in foreign exchange each year. Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G Ngoerah Hospital as a type A vertical hospital owned by the Ministry of Health located in the province with the highest number of tourist visits in Indonesia must be able to answer the challenges of medical tourism initiated by the government since 2019. The purpose of this study was to determine the efforts of Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G Hospital in realizing medical tourism services as an effort to improve quality.
Methods: The research method used in this study was the interview method and literature review.
Results: The results of the study showed that the medical tourism services currently being developed at Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G Ngoerah Hospital consist of 3 superior services, namely integrated heart services with superior adult and pediatric heart surgery services; integrated cancer services with superior Linac radiotherapy services, and integrated maternal and child health services. The development of these services is expected to be able to answer the problem of medical tourism needs for both domestic and foreign tourists.
Conclusions: With the development of medical tourism, it is expected to attract domestic and foreign tourists to Indonesia, especially Bali, and can meet the needs of tourists related to health and travel needs. It is hoped that medical tourism services at Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G Ngoerah Hospital will continue to develop in order to meet the needs of both domestic and interview tourists. Cooperation with stakeholders and national and international travel agencies is also needed so that this program can run well.
